Nous avions déjà perdu une journée de vacances à Breb et même si elle fut mémorable à nombreux de points de vue, nous continuons vers notre prochaine région sans tenter d’ajouter une journée à la fin. Notre but principal était de faire une ou deux Via Ferrata (enfin je ne parle que de mon chéri ici) et le reste des explorations pourrait se faire dans un autre temps.
In a previous post, I had already mentioned that Via Ferrata will be in our future trip planning. So our last part of this Northern Romania week was to be centered in a region known for their hiking trails and a couple of established Via Ferrata. From Breb, we drove all day west and a little south to get closer to the Bicaz Gorges. We drove directly to our lodging, a room within a bigger house with access to the summer kitchen. Our owner Ion had this big house and used it as a family cottage until his daughters left their home town for their studies and work opportunities.
Le lendemain, nous conduisons vers la montagne où se situe la “Via Ferrata “Wild Ferenc”. Et sans vraiment sans rendre compte, on manque la jonction qui conduit au début de la Via Ferrata. Dans une chaleur assez torride, on finit par atteindre le sommet de cette montagne pour se rendre compte que nous avons fait une trail de hiking. Tant qu’à être là, j’ai pris une photo du panneau et de la vue panoramique du Lacu Roșu (Lac Rouge)…
Et puis, nous sommes revenus sur nos pas pour retrouver le début de la Via Ferrata qui referra son trajet à flanc de la même montagne. Mon amateur de Via Ferrata s’est donc attelé avec tout son équipement à la faire.
And after approximately 3/4 of the way, my valorous climber estimated that he was too tired and too close to dehydration to go through the hardest part of the via ferrata. We came back to our lodging and our host was there to offer us a feast with local goods and talk the evening away and all in Romanian. We ended our vacations by returning to Bucharest the following day.
